Taipei WangTea originated in the hometown of Tei Kuan Yin Tea – Fujian Anxi. Our great grandfather, Mr. Wang Jing- Hui founded Wang You- Ji Tea Company in Xiamen in 1890. Mr. Wang Xiojin of the second generation came to Taiwan in 1907 and set up a refinery factory in the then tea bustling town of Dadao Cheng. In addition, he refined and exported Taiwanese Northern Pouchong Tea. Third generation Mr. Wang Qin-jun came over to Taiwan, at the age of 17, to help with tea selection, tea refinery and other business activities. Xiojin Gong moved to Thailand to handle business marketing. With the dawn of the 1970s, Taiwanese economy flourished and caused an increase in tea consumption and domestic sales. In addition, various cultural tea movements help further the quality and standards of tea. To keep a place in the market, fourth generation siblings help set up an outlet on 67 Jinan Rd. Section 2 in 1975. Using the principle of promoting tea knowledge as a business guideline, and holding Qin-jun’s commandment: “to be morally conscientious in managing tea business” Wang’s Tea received critical acclaims from consumers. The outlet is currently managed by Wang Duan- Quo. Another outlet was later established at 89 Changchun Rd, currently managed by Wang Duan- Xian. The refinery factory that is located at 26. Lane 64, sec. 2, Chung King N. Road, Taipei has been transformed into a production, sales, and educational venue. Because of its location in Dadao Cheng’s Old Tea Zone, it was frequently visited by the late Professor Lin Hung Dao, who enjoyed inviting people for tours of the factory. Starting in 1997, Cheng Huan Temple organizes a “Dadao Cheng Tour” twice a month. Under the guidance of Chung Yon- Min and Yeh Lun- Huay, numerous individuals with a passion for traditional knowledge, and cultural activists continue to visit the Wangs’ Tea Refinery Factory. Through interactions, explanations, and meeting with consumers and understanding their interests and needs, we once again feel the life passion of Wang Qin- jun. Tea was basically his second life, and through his management, Wangs’ Tea has established its place in the world. To remember the past and to look to the future, we have to respond to the cultural demands of our time, all the while promoting the culture of tea. Starting in 2004, we further created a new room, designing a space to “Interact with Tea”. The room made it easier for costumers to get in touch with all the products. And through the design of the room and the display of the products, it likens touring Wangs’ Tea to as if customers are reading from a tea encyclopedia. From the categories of tea to historical documents, all are on display within and without the factory, along with a guide explaining each display. The 2nd floor used to be an area where female workers separated the tea, it has now become a cultural studio. The newly named Ching- Yuan Tang provides a chance for the arts and community groups to present themselves as well as to promote the culture of tea, using this as a chance to commemorate past figures and to inspire future people. Four years after remodeling, there had been numerous groups and people who came and visited the factory, as well as attracting various domestic and international media. As of now, Wang Lian- Yuan’s children are involved with the business. Through the passion and creativity of youths, it help revitalize an old business with a new spirit, passing through the generation. “High- class but inexpensive” is Taipei WangTea century- old business ideal. Through “tea”, we are able to convey to our customers a dense and great passion, we also hope to contribute to the tea business a professional yet minute strength, and to pass on the fragrance of tea for generations to come.
